二十世纪初的中国，在救亡图存与文明嬗变的激荡中，广东以其毗邻港澳、通商前沿的地理格局，率先成为中西文化碰撞的漩涡中心。这片土地不仅孕育了时代变革的先声，更催生了中国美术现代转型的澎湃浪潮。从“美术革命”的号角到新中国艺术图式的构建，广东艺术家以“其命惟新”的自觉，将个人才情熔铸于民族命运的洪流，书写了一部兼具地域特质与国家叙事的视觉史诗。

 

本次展览以广东美术馆藏品为基础，共展出1900年—1978年间广东重要艺术家的作品以及相关文献200余件，以“鼎故革新——中国画的前途与路向”“勇立潮头——洋画运动在广东”“匕首投枪——新兴木刻运动中的广东力量”“红色诗篇——革命图像的诗意表达”“山河新貌——社会建设的时代记忆”“当家做主——人民形象的视觉建构”六个篇章系统梳理20世纪广东美术在现代化进程中的开拓性探索与历史担当，不仅是对广东美术历史的一次重要回顾，更是对艺术与时代关系的一次深刻探讨。本次展览为文化和旅游部2025年全国美术馆馆藏精品展出季入选项目，广东美术馆将以此展为契机，继续加强研究收藏、藏品活化、文化惠民，积极推动粤港澳大湾区文化繁荣，为广东文化高质量发展、广东文化强省建设贡献力量。

 

In the turbulent early 20th century, when China was grappling with national survival and cultural transformation, Guangdong—with its strategic position adjacent to Hong Kong and Macao and its status as a primary commercial gateway—emerged as the dynamic epicenter of East-West cultural convergence. This region not only pioneered political reform movements but also became the birthplace of China's modern artistic revolution. From initiating the "Art Revolution" to shaping New China's visual paradigms, Guangdong artists consciously channeled their creative talents into the broader currents of national rejuvenation, composing a visual epic that harmonized regional distinctiveness with national historical narratives.

 

Drawing upon the Guangdong Museum of Art's distinguished collection, this exhibition features over 200 significant artworks and archival materials from 1900 to 1978, systematically presented through six thematic sections: Reform and Innovation: The Future and Direction of Chinese Painting；Pioneering the Tide: The Western Painting Movement in Guangdong；Daggers and Spears: Guangdong's Contribution to the New Woodcut Movement；Revolutionary Poetics: Lyrical Expressions in Revolutionary Imagery；Transformed Landscapes: Chronicles of Social Construction；The People as Protagonists: The Visual Construction of People's Identity.This comprehensive survey not only revisits Guangdong's pivotal role in China's artistic modernization but also stimulates profound reflection on the interplay between art and historical context. This exhibition is one of the selected projects for the 2025 National Art Museum Collection Exhibition Season organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The Guangdong Museum of Art will leverage this exhibition to advance its mission in research, collection development, public engagement, and the cultural enrichment of the Greater Bay Area—contributing substantially to Guangdong's cultural advancement and the development of a culturally vibrant province.
