Introduction

n Helidon Xhixha’s artworks, light is never confined to the surface of a work, but exists as a state of growth that emerges from within and permeates the interior of the piece. This growth can be perceived and distilled in the exhibition Reflections of the Four Seasons: Nature in Light's Mirror, which is both a representation of nature and a reconstruction of nature’s very essence, as well as a reactivation of visual perception. Xhixha uses mirror-finished stainless steel, a highly industrial material, as his medium of expression, continually creating on its surface a rich, ever-changing material condition that captures the surrounding world, causing the originally near-perfect geometric forms to undergo persistent shifts and distortions. This treatment is at once a formal strategy and a structural intervention. On these agitated surfaces, light is captured, refracted, stretched, and thus transformed into a visual fluid suspended between the real and the surreal.

Xhixha’s practice reworks the sculptural tradition that emphasizes volume and structure, constructing a field of light interaction.Nature is not an object but a process; not a mechanism of generation but one of seeing. The four seasons are not just a sequence of time. They indicate transformations of state: blossoming, expanding, contracting, and retreating inward. This transformation does not unfold through narrative but is continuously made visible through the movement of light across the surface of the work.

The exhibition brings together a number of Xhixha’s recent large-scale sculptures centered on light, nature, and environment. Among them, the series Spring Light, Summer Light, Autumn Light, Winter Light, expresses seasonal differences in perception through variations in color and material. Several smaller sculptures and preparatory drawings are also on view, offering a complete picture of the artist’s creative output.
