广东美术馆一直致力于促进国际之间的文化艺术交流，尽自身的能力创造各种让本土艺术和国外艺术进行对话和互动的机会，使其成为一种共享的契机。在“向外看”和“向内看”时视线的碰撞过程中加深对当下艺术思潮的认识和了解，最终是为探讨本土艺术推进的可能道路提供更多思考触点和兴奋点，激活对当代艺术进行开放地讨论和研究的学术气氛。
慕尼黑当代抽象绘画展所展出的是来自七个国家的十三位艺术家的抽象绘画作品，他们来自于不同的文化背景，在慕尼黑从事创作和开展各种艺术活动，其中的一些艺术家已经取得了一定的国际声誉。他们有着一个共同的目标就是想通过自己的角度来澄清当代绘画艺术的本体论问题，使绘画摆脱对图式的依赖和借助透视法制造虚拟的三维空间的执迷，使绘画回到了绘画的“过程”之中、回到对朴素而又极具个性的材料特质的有效表现之中。对图式以及虚拟空间的否定其实就是为了使到“何为绘画”这一个问题在避免了各种流行的、传统的观念的干扰后得到更为直接的呈现。
当“绘画”概念从各种历史性“积习”的遮蔽体中出走的时候，我们也许可以找到重新认识绘画的另一个起点······

Preface
Guangdong Museum of
Art has always been committed to international culture and art exchanges and its
mission is to create opportunities for dialogues and interactions between
indigenous art and international art and by doing so, make it an arena for
experience sharing. Confrontation between the vision of “looking inward” and
“looking outward”facilitates our understanding of contemporary art and offers
more sparkles and catalysts to explore the possibility of development of
indigenous art and finally to activate an open academic atmosphere for
discussion and research on contemporary art.
Contemporary
Abstract Painting from Munich presents abstract painting of 13 artists from 7
countries. From different cultural background, they devote themselves to art and
some of them have won international fame. Their common vision is to release
painting from the obsession of the virtual 3D dimension created by perspective
and from the dependence on formula with an aim to clarify the identity of
contemporary art of painting. Their effort helps painting restore to the
painting process and to the effective presentation of simple and unique material
and idiosyncracy. The denial of formula and virtual space helps painting free
from the intervention of popular and traditional concept and helps it to be more
direct presentation.
We may find another starting point of
understanding painting when it is freed from the corrupted habits.
