Lin Yusi (born in Guangdong in 1978) is an outstanding Chinese brush painter, who attended national exhibitions of Chinese paintings and Chinese brush paintings and won awards for many times. His personal album "Collection of Yusi" was published by the People‘s Fine Arts Publishing House in 2007. Lin Yusi is fond with Chinese classical myths and legends and likes Chinese classical literature such as the Strange Stories and the Anecdotes about Spirits and Immortals. Since 2016, he has used his night time to create a series of small white sketches that capture his curiosity and love of mysterious and unknown things such as monks and monsters.

For Lin Yusi, the unique painting form of "white sketch" is an "alpine" painting that "is brilliant without applying colors". In his works of white sketches, the lines of "silk sketches" and "flowing sketches" are full of charm and rich expressiveness. A mysterious and extraordinary world of immortal beings and animals created by rich imagination, including graceful immortal beings, shows the extraordinary imagination of the artist.

Wang Shaoqiang, chief curator of this exhibition and director of Guangdong Museum of  Art, said "Space 7" was the seventh hall of the Guangdong Museum of Art. For a long time, the exhibition area was located in a relatively independent area. From the visiting route of the Museum, the value of this area has not been fully developed, and the establishment of "Space 7" is exactly to activate the exhibition hall to a greater extent. Therefore, the Guangdong Museum of Art tries to incorporate more spatial properties into Hall 7, making "Space 7" an academic brand, the focus of which will be on young people. In recent years, the Guangdong Museum of Art has always maintained its concern and support for young artists. "Space 7 - Guangdong Museum of Art Young Artists Academic Nomination Exhibition" aims to provide cutting-edge artists with a platform to present status quo of creation and express themselves. In order to ensure the academic height of the exhibition at the same time, the Guangdong Museum of Art will set up the Academic Committee of "Space 7 - Guangdong Museum of Art Young Artists Academic Nomination Exhibition". Artists of individual exhibitions will be nominated by the Museum or academic committees. After discussion by academic committees, individual exhibitions may be held in Hall 7 of Guangdong Museum of Art and will be included in the series of academic activities of the Museum.

As the first exhibition of "Space 7 - Guangdong Museum of Art Young Artists Academic Nomination Exhibition", the works of cutting-edge artist Lin Yusi impressed experts of the academic committees. His unique character of ink and wash language embodies not only the aesthetic ideal of the ancients' "play of the game", but also the experimenting spirit full of illusions of young people, which is the most precious thing for young artists.

This exhibition will be on display until November 10.
