Huang Zhijian Library

Huang Zhijian (1919-1994), under the pseudonym of Qianwen, born in Nanhai, Guangdong Nanhai, was good at Chinese painting and art theory. In 1940, he was graduated from the Hong Kong Art School and the Literature School of Lingnan University. Has joined the "Folk Painting Association" and advocated modern figure painting. After the founding of the New China, he engaged in art history research and flower and bird painting. He served as vice president and art consultant of Guangzhou Academy of Painting. Mr. Huang was fond of collecting books, which were very abundant. He deliberately collected and filtered Guangdong contemporary and modern documentations and materials and was an expert in this regard. In November 1997, his wife -- Mrs. Li Guifen -- and children donated this precious fortune to the Guangdong Museum of Art. These donated collections constituted an important part of documentations collected by the Humanities Library of the Guangdong Museum of Art. There are about 2,678 books at Huang Zhijian Library.
