For many people Xu Yong (1933 - ) is known as the
supervisor and professor of The Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts, for others he is
the vice-chairman of Liaoning Province Artists Association and a member of
Chinese Artists’ Association, and also one of the privileged few to enjoy a
special allowance granted by the State Department. Born in Qingdao, Shandong,
Mr. Xu has been an active member of the art world for many years. He is often
seen as one of the founding members of modern Chinese historical painting. He is
well known for painting with unlimited passion and a unique vision. His
paintings revealed his profound knowledge and unrelenting pursuit for perfection
in art. With this understanding, viewers can come to appreciate the splendor,
enthusiasm and brilliance his work embodies.
