War and Capriccio - Etching Series of Francisco Goya《LifeofGuangzhou》
录入时间: 2013-10-29
Born in Zaragoza in 1746, Francisco Goya dedicated his whole life to art. In 1771, he began his long but successful career as a court painter. Goya has earned respect for his works and led the trend of artistic development. He is also the earliest ancestor of Surrealism, Impressionism, Symbolism and Expressionism.
The original meaning of the Italian word "Capriccio" is illusion. After being interpreted by Goya, the word expresses the distortion of reality. During composing tragicomedies, Goya became deaf, which enabled him to have an exquisite insight into the reality and his own internal thoughts.
With weird and frightening symbols, not only did Goya create a new artistic language with conciseness, clarity and keenness, but his works never lack of Spanish black humor and satire. Goya tried to bring rationality back to the world by criticizing its weirdness and degeneration.
